Baha Initiative Promotes Seasonal Produce and Rural Tourism
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched the first activities of its seasonal initiative in the Baha region, aiming to strengthen market opportunities for local farmers, beekeepers and small-scale producers.
Held at Al-Hazem Rural Farm in Al-Mandaq governorate, the event brought together 22 exhibitors showcasing seasonal fruits, locally produced honey, traditional handicrafts and products from cottage industry families, highlighting the region's agricultural heritage.
The initiative is designed to increase visibility for Baha's agricultural products, expand access to new markets and support rural economic development in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Honey remains one of the region's flagship products, alongside a growing range of seasonal produce.
The programme also reflects the continued growth of rural tourism across Baha, where licensed farm destinations are attracting visitors seeking nature-based experiences and traditional hospitality. By combining agriculture with tourism, rural farms are creating new income opportunities for local communities while promoting the region's distinctive terraced landscapes and cultural heritage.
With additional rural farms progressing through the licensing process, the initiative highlights the increasing role of agritourism in supporting regional development and diversifying Saudi Arabia's rural economy.
