Asrar Damdam is a highly accomplished scientist and entrepreneur who holds a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering. Her research is focused on food preservation technologies and the Internet of Foods. As the founder and CEO of Uvera, a cleantech startup, Asrar is dedicated to tackling the global challenge of reducing food waste by 50% by 2030. Uvera's innovative products keep food fresher for longer, with an average increase in shelf life of up to 97%, achieved within just 30 seconds and without the use of any chemicals. In recognition of her groundbreaking scientific research, Asrar was awarded the L'Oreal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science in 2020. She has also been named to several prestigious lists, including the Forbes 30 under 30 list (2021), the Fast Company list of the most creative people in business (2022), the 50NEXT list of people shaping the future of gastronomy (2022), and the Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts list (2022).
