Saudi Arabia Rolls Out Mandatory Nutritional Labelling in Restaurants to Boost Public Health

In line with its Vision 2030 goals to enhance well-being, Saudi Arabia has introduced new regulations requiring all restaurants and cafés to display clear nutritional information on their menus as of July 1, 2025. The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) mandates that all dining establishments, from casual coffee shops to fine-dining venues, highlight high-sodium items with a salt shaker symbol, list caffeine content in beverages and show calorie counts for every menu item.

This initiative aims to promote transparency and empower consumers to make healthier choices amid rising rates of hypertension, obesity and diabetes. The move brings the Kingdom in step with global best practices and is supported by digital tools to help both consumers and food outlets comply.
